Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
As far as "seasoned connoisseurs" go, this forum is not a bad place to find them, but they won't be constantly online and typing replies around the clock. Most of them are on respective discord channels, the old school forums including reddit have a few drawbacks. 1) lack of real-time interaction 2)...

Re: CNNP teas and State factory teas
Velych thank you for re-explaining your point! I wish I had your luck finding these teas. I regularly come across CNNP tin cans in Finland but they are always empty. At most there is some tea dust in the bottom. The first half of the 1990s was a difficult time for export businesses, and production ...

Re: FS: Wu Yungen rare 55ml teapot (Zisha Yixing)
[…] My purpose is just to update my collection, this teapot brewed well, and has good old yixing clay, has a smooth coating tea on sides My wish only sell it for just real price, market value. 250-600$? Could you help me with assigning an adequate cost? USD 25–60 could be closer to truth. This kind...

Re: Book: The Art of Kungfu Tea – Ruoshen Teacup
Hi Bok! Uh-huh, I can imagine forgers busy stoking their kilns with redoubled vigor since the book came out. I suppose anyone who really wants to study the photos should be prepared to invest in the hardcover. The print quality in the catalog (on matte paper) is less than great. While I don't...

Re: Book: The Art of Kungfu Tea – Ruoshen Teacup
Here are some random cups from the catalog. The paper is matte, unfortunately resulting in a grainy appearance. There is not much daylight at my place at this time of the year. Kangxi cups with a visible blue glow. 051.jpg Yongzheng, the left one has a Ruoshen mark. 139-140.jpg Qianlong. I assume fr...

Book: The Art of Kungfu Tea – Ruoshen Teacup
In conjunction with the International Antiques Fair (HK) in May 2023 there was an event focused on 若深 Ruoshen cups, with an exhibition, lectures, and a book launch《杯必若深珍藏》("The Cup Must Be Ruoshen") by the Taiwanese publisher Wushing. Wushing has put out a number of magazines related to tea culture,...

mhegara why ask & delete? :?: DailyTX That pattern is called the Four Noble Professions or 漁樵耕讀: fisherman, woodcutter, farmer, and scholar. It's a classic motif and I'm fairly sure that some state-owned or formerly state-owned factory likewise had it in their catalog. 正泰瓷厂 Zhengtai Porcelain Facto...

Whoops, I (perhaps) obviously meant to write As a student of Chinese painting and calligraphy, I don't like your gaiwan cup. […] Yes. I think we are on different pages regarding this matter. Nonetheless, thanks for sharing your view!! You're welcome! I'll be looking at shanshui pieces with a fresh p...

i was actually referring exactly on the quality of the painting... I couldn't find a better painted quinghua streams and mountains online but even this one isn't that much precise in some areas... […] All right, now I understand, thanks for clarifying. :D As a student of Chinese painting and callig...

Re: The Porcelain Thread
I’ve spent quite a lot for this one (350$) and I would love your opinion on the quality of the craftsmanship! With this kind of cups you are mostly paying for the painter's craft. If you like it, then it's all right. It's very difficult to judge certain "quality" factors (glaze, hand feel, effect o...

wave_code yes, there are no filter holes, it's an unibody construction and fairly thin walled. The decoration is all carved. There's a spot on the bird's tail where the infill has either chipped away or was never applied. The closeup also shows a couple pinholes. Since nixing is a mixture clay anyw...

Re: Lid for yixing teapot
If you are able to shop on Taobao, searching for “紫砂壶 盖子” gave me not a few listings for replacement lids with various specifications to choose from. I cannot recommend any specific shops because I've never bought from them. I've got a duanni pot that I picked up at a local brick-and-mortar tea shop...
