Re: Your day in matcha
I've been drinking cold Ippodo Seiun matcha recently. Not sure if people typically drink it this way; but when I'm in a rush I put 2-3 chashaku scoops into a glass with a small amount of water (2 parts water to 1 part matcha) and use a milk frother until its mixed well. Then I pour cold water in whi...

Re: Japan Spring Trip
I know this thread is a bit old now, but I'm going to be visiting Japan this spring and will definitely be trying to hit up Tsuen and a few places in Uji while I'm there. I visited Obubu on my last visit, and it was definitely worth the trek out there; but probably not going again this year. I'm on ...

Re: What Herbal Are You Drinking
Pretty good! The salt was waaay too much in the first infusion, so I saved it off and poured a bit into later infusions (I read this on a few websites that talked about brewing techniques). Overall it was kind of bite similar to umeboshi, but with a sweeter aftertaste where the sakura really came ou...

Re: Ode to the Kyusu
I love my kyusu, but I don't know anything about it! I picked it up at the outer market in Tsukiji this past fall. There are some identifying marks, but I haven't found them anywhere (I checked www.tokoname.or.jp/teapot/stamp but could have missed it). Regardless of who made it, it's pretty nice in ...

Re: Jin Jun Mei?
I reviewed a bunch of Jin Jun Mei on Reddit after trying a bunch of different kinds over this past year. Of the kinds I tried, Wuyi Origin and Old Ways Tea's Jin Jun Mei were my favorite price/taste-wise. One ended up being the worst tea I've tried... I'm guessing the video you were talking about wa...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Too much leaf? ... I did not know that was possible for sencha. I filled the gaiwan so much that the leaves had no room to expand  I keep drinking genmaicha at work... But I need to remember to clean my filter at the end of the day.... Scraping dried tea leaves out of the filter eve...

I was drinking a puerh earlier, but I didn't like it very much and switched back to a plain ippodo sencha. Nothing special, but I definitely used too much leaf

Re: What are you doing when drinking tea
Always focused on the tea for the first infusions, at least two to three, then I might do other things at the same time. I typically do the same thing. The first two infusions or so I'm paying attention to the tea; but depending in the tea, I'll usually start to do some other things. I browse the w...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking
I've been drinking Ippodo's Obukucha (genmaicha) recently - one of my favorite everyday teas for the colder months. I typically put a bit more than the recommended amount of leaf, and brew at just below 212F for 30sec.

Re: Introduce Yourself
How long have you been drinking tea? Probably since about 2007 or 2008, but not heavily until maybe around 2012 (and even now, I wouldn't consider myself as experienced a tea drinker as most of the people here). What kind of tea do you drink? I drink a lot of green tea, and really enjoy greens from...
