Re: FS: Taisuke Shiraiwa teapot, other contemporary Japanese and American teaware

A couple of modest price drops on the tea server and one of the cups. Otherwise, I'll be hanging on to them. Again, all prices are shipped within the US.

Jonathan Steele tea server $50
Taylor Sijan yunomi $50

Re: FS: Taisuke Shiraiwa teapot, other contemporary Japanese and American teaware

Here are some gong fu tea cups that I made. As I said in my first post, buy 1 or more of the pots listed, and I will throw in one of these soda fired cups for free (there are 3 total, see pictures below) if interested or a 20g bag of 2023 sencha from Thes du Japon. cd1.jpg cd2.jpg cd3.jpg cd4.jpg cd...

Re: FS: Taisuke Shiraiwa teapot, other contemporary Japanese and American teaware

Last, a more contemporary piece by American potter Taylor Sijan. I really love the surface decoration on this, but the shape of it really does not suit me and because of that, I hardly use it. But if you are into taller, thicker walled yunomi, this might be for you! Not too sure on firing details on...

Re: FS: Taisuke Shiraiwa teapot, other contemporary Japanese and American teaware

Third piece is a tea server by American potter Jonathan Steele, who specializes in gong fu teaware. This is probably the piece that I am selling that I have used the most. However, I lately have been gravitating toward a glass tea server, and I have been using this less and less. Some beautiful surf...

Re: FS: Taisuke Shiraiwa teapot, other contemporary Japanese and American teaware

Second piece is a Kizuya Ishida small teacup. It is a mix of porcelain and some other type of bizen clay. A lot of the clay Ishida mines himself, and he does a lot of experimentation with different clay bodies which i find to be really cool. Unglazed inside and out, and I believe was fired upwards o...

Re: The Porcelain Thread

Been nice to catch up on all the recent posts lately. Thought I would share some of my favorite contemporary porcelain pieces by one of favorite potters, Noel Bailey. The simpler, less curvy piece i picked up a few years ago and the more flowing piece with surface work reminiscent of Japanese hotaru...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the qimen, debunix . I've also been enjoying sessions with the Qihong huangye from my last Daxue Jiadao order. Really lovely tea. I've been doing pretty high leaf to water ratio with shorter steeping times. A bit peaty and malty in the beginning with nice under...

Re: Korean green tea (nokcha)

Finally digging in to some of the teas I ordered from morning crane this year. First up is the sejak from Oh Yeong Soon. I've never brewed a Korean green tea before. I thought why not start at 4g/100ml at boiling and see what this tea can take. No problem at all! Relatively short steeps to begin, ab...

Re: Korean green tea (nokcha)

Thanks for sharing LeoFox . Sounds like a great tea. I bought 5 or 6 different teas from the tea buy this year and just received them yesterday. I am still a little ways off from dipping into any of them as I have too much other tea open right now that needs drinking. But will get to it soon, and wi...

Thank you David. Your teas were a jumping off point for me in starting to explore Taiwanese oolongs. And I also learned so much reading many of your insightful blog posts. Grateful for the opportunity to taste so many wonderful teas at such fair price points. Will especially miss Laoshi's teas--the ...

Re: The Porcelain Thread

Thank you everyone for providing your input. wave_code thanks for providing the insight that a different type of clay can be a go-to baseline assessment tool over porcelain. Of course it can. I suppose any clay can if you understand what it is doing to a given tea. Lots to think about. I am 3 years ...
