Re: Boiled tea flavour
mbanu I can't really tell the difference between freshly boiled water and water that's been boiling for a while. But I try my best to aerate the tea when brewing. wave_code Perhaps the metal restrains wood (the tea) in the Five Elements sense. I actually have been looking into bigger pots recently,...

Boiled tea flavour
I remember that when I was boiling tea in my stainless steel pan, it would always turn out different than when brewing in a gaiwan or in a thermos. The taste was strong, all right, but it was always kind of equalized, minty, not very interesting. Good when you want to extract the leaves quickly and ...

Re: Electric Kettles
Thanks @Victoria. I guess I'll just start having tea in the kitchen near the gas stove and use the ordinary stainless steel kettle that I have that has no plastic elements in contact with water. It works well, is pretty quiet, and doesn't smell at all.

Re: Electric Kettles
Recently I've dug out an electric kettle that I want to make use of. The parts that have contact with water are stainless steel, but the lid, the handle, and everything else is plastic. It does smell like a factory new DVD player. Do you have any reliable methods of removing such odors? I've tried b...

Does anyone have experience with this producer? DaDian seems to be very knowledgeable about Yunnan tea.

I think the left is "盛開堂". Take a look at this auction here: https://history.aucfan.com/yahoo/r333706312/bidrank/. The squares on top look similar.

Re: Does anyone buy tea during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales around here?
I like prices that are fair. When discounts appear regularly, it means that the regular prices are already above what is profitable. It doesn't make sense then to make orders outside the sales. That's why I only buy butter and bananas at third or half of the original price. The dairy industry is big...

For a) you could take a look at Inge Nielsen's pottery. People say she's good. She's not Japanese though.

Re: A teapot escapes the museum...
Some people say that you should talk good to your items if you want to have good use of them. Recently I complained that my handsaw is good for nothing, and an axe cut into my thumb. Be careful what you say about your pots.

Re: Tea tourism in Yunnan
I wouldn't push people to buy tea (or anything). I'd rather prepare a sample pack with a jin or so tea and include the price in the cost of the trip. Of course, the tourists should be able to buy some more if they want. And the tea should be good for the price, many famous places are rip offs. That ...

Re: Your day in tea
Recently I've been brewing heicha by either boiling it on a stove or simply by throwing a chunk into a thermos and letting it sit in just boiled water at 1g/100ml. These methods work much better than my attempts to brew it in smaller vessels. The cups are strong and consistent, they are also numerous.

I guess I'll post it here. 2015 Gaoma Bailiang - generally woody, herbal. The Qianliang seems better. 2016 Gaoma Qianliang - woody, herbal, citrusy, some mushrooms. If I'm not mistaken there is some Jin Hua in the leaves, which probably shouldn't be there. 2017 Gongjian Fu Brick - wood, ripe sour ch...
