Re: Old European porcelain
LeoFox Very nice :D ! The Royal Copenhagen musselmalet series dates back to 1775 according to their website. Speaking of Copenhagen I took some photos when I was last in a museum there. I was in a hurry, snap, snap 📷 Examples of French teaware from the 1730- 50s. Quail teaset.jpg Rose teapot.jpg I ...

Re: Lessons from Anosmia: Smell and Taste
Teafortea More often that not people don't just self medicate on themselves, they'll try to help their children or other vulnerables such as the elderly. A desperate person might read a success story online followed by dosage details and try it out :( More confidence because the doctor prescribing ...

Re: Lessons from Anosmia: Smell and Taste
I don't care what wiki says, my doctor here in France is a better source no? I never liked google for my diagnosis nor treatment. Let's stay in the tea discussion better. Just a quick Google shows this has been advised against outside of clinical trials. This isn't a private space so you never know...

Re: Tea-derived caffeine
debunix Well I speak as someone who was sensitive to caffeine until I deliberately went about developing a tolerance, gradually, over a 5 year period. There is some evidence to suggest that caffeine, at least with coffee as the vehicle, can be helpful in preventing neurodegenerative disease and som...

Re: Tea-derived caffeine
Baisao Aaah that theory makes much more sense. Keeping that in mind I'll give sheng another shot. Patjulian80 Interesting! Caffeine is a somewhat polarised topic, especially surrounding health benefits. And it's never going to be easy convincing the caffeine sensitive that there's any benefit

Re: Tea-derived caffeine
So much so that I'm writing a short ebook on it... Is it a more general book on the subject? If it's related to health what stance do you think you'll be taking? Its interesting sheng is coming up a lot. The first and last time I had some it gave me an uncomfortable buzz. This is someone who starts...

Re: Lost my smell :(
Something similar happened to me and it took the joy out of drinking tea for around 6 months. The problem for me wasn't so much a loss of smell, although I briefly experienced it, but the change in my sense of smell. It took me months to work out, I just assumed I was having bad luck with stale and ...

Re: Yixing
If looked from the perspective of morals, yes I would agree. We'd never justify having nice things! During the pandemic it was a popular thing to do the opposite and I can only observe from my own little corner of the world how attitudes have changed.

Re: Yixing
I think there may be less purchasing occurring in the West as people prepare for economic instability on both continents. This. And while some might be able to afford it I will speculate it feels in bad taste to flaunt luxuries right now. Edited: Just to point out this isn't my covert view. Maybe t...

Dried Lime Tea (chai noomi basra/loomi). Dried limes are cracked, their seeds removed, simmered for 15-30 minutes and then served with sugar or honey. A refreshingly zingy beverage probably better suited to a hot day. I had mine with a small amount of sugar and next time I'll try it with some saffro...

Re: TGY in Honey
I was gifted some honey recently and decided to try this method on a couple of teas which were losing their lustre. A roasted TGY and a purple leaf sheng pu'erh in 15g quantities for around 150g- 200g honey. Glass jars, stored in a cool place. The tea does rise so this strikes me as something you ne...

First Flush Darjeeling Oolong from Oaks Tea Estate, an organic tea garden situated in Sonada Valley. Typical Darjeeling astringency, not overly complex but pulling a pleasant apricot flavour throughout the infusions.

@Ethan Kurland ! It's even better when, after an internal meltdown, the realisation dawns that the mystery hair is your very own.
