Re: Where do you buy your gaiwans?

Well, there's some info to chew on there! I've visited a lot of those sites, but I will sure check out the rest. I appreciate you taking the time to post that.

Re: Where do you buy your gaiwans?

Thank you! I've read about Teas We Like but haven't been able to access their website. I just now realized that the reason is because my ISP is blocking them (it does so with other sites in Europe and Asia). I can access them through my cell phone though. But when I go to their teaware section, all ...

Re: Where do you buy your gaiwans?

I'd like to see this thread continue. The other sticky Gaiwan thread is more oriented towards showing them off, and I could use some help from a thread such as this. I've been using all my free time scouring the net for about three days now, looking for a simple plain white porcelain 120ml gaiwan <=...

Re: Simple iced tea

Excellent. I'm glad that I'm already thinking fairly straight regarding your suggestions. Was looking for a gaiwan that's not too thick of maybe around 140ml, plain white porcelain. I've read elsewhere here to not go nuts on the expense with this. Was also going to get the fairness pitcher and at le...

Re: Simple iced tea

Thanks for the info! Water temperature was 205F/96C. Next time I'm going to try 180F and see how that improves the clarity and flavor. Have to stock back up on tea though, I'm out! For my personal tasting adventure (non-iced) I'm going to be ordering some white, green, pu'er. I'm currently hung up t...

Re: Simple iced tea

I was planning on storing this iced tea in the fridge in growlers (a glass jug commonly used for transporting small quantities of beer), which are 64oz. In a metal pot, I did 20g loose-leaf Ceylon, 64oz 205F/96C unfiltered well water, 5 minute steep stirring occasionally, filtered through a pristine...

Re: Simple iced tea

Thank you all for the welcome and the suggestions! I will be starting with a Ceylon for the iced tea experiments, and I'll report back. But man... these words! It's all so new to me, it's exciting. Thai Nguyen Bai mu dan style Gaoshan Baozhong Yeah, I feel a deep dive coming on. Found myself waking ...

Re: Simple iced tea

Thank you kindly for your response! I will indeed start with a Ceylon and go from there. I do appreciate the other suggestions. I love Jasmine tea and I'm curious about how that would turn out iced (doubt my wife would like it but who knows, possibly!). I realize that asking for suggestions on makin...

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello! How long have you been drinking tea? On and off for 37 years, but I've never really pulled the trigger on getting deep with it. What kind of tea do you drink? Non-herbal, non-flavored. How do you prepare your tea? Infuser or tea pot. Looking forward to trying other methods. What tea knowledge...

Simple iced tea

Hello! I'm a coffee geek / home roaster and a home brewer. I like flavor diversity. I have always had respect for the tea world, but haven't really pulled the trigger on investigating it thoroughly. It's something I'm starting to dabble in a bit more. Baby steps. In the meantime, I'd like to make ic...
