Loose Tea Broth

Another podcast episode for you all. I was a little tea drunk for this episode :D The focus was drinking a Lishan High Mt Oolong twice; once in porcelain gaiwan and once in clay pot. The results of this experiment lead us to some pretty fundamental topics of tea drinking like concentration and loose...

Revisiting the Same Tea Every Day

This episode we revisited a Tie Guan Yin from Yunnan that we used to practice brewing, and it got Shiuwen off on the topic of revisiting teas. We also have a challenge for people: to brew the same tea daily for a week and see how it changes each time. https://floatingleaves.podbean.com/e/revisiting-...

Dong Ding "Blind" Sampler and Live Tasting

Hello Tea Forum, We're doing another blind tasting session, this time it's four different Dong Ding oolongs by popular demand. Three were roasted by different people, and the two that share the same roaster are different cultivars. I pasted the text from our site below so you can see more detailed i...

Stories from Dong Ding Plateau

https://floatingleaves.podbean.com/e/stories-from-dong-ding-plateau/ Another episode, recorded on the same day as last week's. This one is about the farmer couple who produce our Dong Ding Traditional A. Personally, this was my first time to meet them. The tea from this session was actually two dif...

The Structure of a Tea - FLT Podcast

https://floatingleaves.podbean.com/e/structure-of-a-tea/ This is the first time I posted our podcast to teaforum. It's because I really like this one! I was editing it and I thought it was a really good introduction to Shiuwen's style of teaching mindful tea drinking. The format of the podcast is ge...

Re: Floating Leaves Baozhong Blind Tasting Event

@debunix It was fun to read your post. I hope the heat subsides and you get a chance to try them again.

*Hint* The texture is the giveaway, you can brew them a bit strong to get a clearer feel for what the texture is trying to say.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Good question. It's actually named Da Hong Pao after the cultivar. Apparently the farmer received seven cuttings from the mother bushes in Wuyishan, and this was fifteen years ago. He has a plot of land in Dong Ding, growing and processing primarily Dong Ding style oolongs. So he made the tea into a...

Re: Floating Leaves : High Mountain Blind Tasting Sampler

@debunix I'm a little late to the party, but your descriptions are SUPER on point. Names are names are names. You may have gotten them 'wrong', but the description of each tea was very mindful and concise. I think the one you described as harsher/deeper/in-your-face you meant to write B, is that cor...

Re: Floating Leaves : High Mountain Blind Tasting Sampler

This is awesome! I'm glad to see so many people got the sampler. Debunix, I like your improvised setup. Looks like something that would happen at my house. This is super fun to see how people are liking the teas. It's something we do in the shop, make kind of a class/club meeting out of it twice a y...

Floating Leaves : High Mountain Blind Tasting Sampler

Hi all, We are doing a blind tasting event with three of our high mountain oolongs. Basically, I will be sending out small samples (16 grams) of three different high mountain growing regions' teas (Alishan, Shan Lin Xi, and Hehuan Shan) without disclosing the names. The price for the three teas is $...
