Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Another Thes Du Japon tea, this time kurasawa cultivar sencha from Tenryu, an excellent use of the notoriously hostile cultivar. Very complex in both aroma and flavor over the infusions, transitioning from fruity and floral, to floral and woodsy, to a creamy dark chocolate like bitterness at the th...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Halfways through my (first) yancha order from Wuyi Origin. Finished (aged) Lao Cong Shui Xian 2013, Bai Ji Guan 2023, Rou Gui 2023, some more to go. Pretty good tea, esp. the first two were excellent (lots of leaf in a small porcelain teapot, brewing by feel but weighing the leaf). This is the firs...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic

the guy who has done all work for this JP biz being visible to west , probably now is getting paid only those % differnce between JPY and other currencies. That's the only theory I can come up with. So if you feel the prices in USD still fair, please support. As a competitor, it would obviously be ...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic

By in my opinion , the people who were buying in JPY before are still minority. [...] Our biz is not related to their's but I just feel their pain , because I believe this change is inevitable to them and they have to face some negative impact related to that now. If they are such a minority, why n...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic

You shop for a lot of Japanese tea it sounds like, are there vendors with similar selection and variety of single origin Japanese tea that you have used? I feel like I've not seen many Japanese vendors with a selection quite like TDJ. I've been in a mainly oolong phase for the longest time now, exp...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic

JPY doesn't work for my European address either. That's really disappointing. I've shopped pottery & teas at JPY prices (though I did make the mistake to pay in USD and then EUR on my 1st and 2nd orders before noticing what's going on and was somewhat disgusted by the difference even then). This ste...

Re: EsonTea: DaYuLing 95k

Seems this producer's gone or has rebranded (or maybe the brand was never really the producer itself). The domain of the site they had (esontea.com) is for sale. They used to sell on pinkoi with the 95K priced similarly to the 95K on tea-masters.com, but the same product was available for much cheap...

Re: A visit to Wistaria Paris

Tried them before the website was up (mail order via email/bank transfer). They didn't offer some of the stuff, like Ancient Heights, that gets recommended here (it's only available at their main store in TW). I didn't have high hopes of getting something phenomenal, but ordered b/c they're in the E...

Re: Taiwan Tea Crafts?

I was surprised to see so much praise for Taiwan Tea Crafts here. I tried many samples from them, but found them mostly underwhelming. A few were good, but none were great. I wonder if anyone here could help me figure out whether my impression reflects TTC's actual quality or might be my own fault ...

Re: Vendors of Japanese porcelain ware (Arita, Hasami) and clay teaware with glaze inside?

I'd also look at other stuff, Kyo-yaki, Seto-yaki, etc. There's this shop in Kyoto: Asahiyaki - standard collection (some pieces also available on TdJ's Asahiyaki page ). Gas-fired but seemingly considered a very classical choice (one of these very old shops, though I doubt they sold anything resemb...

Re: Kohokujo Mogake Kyusu for Sale

What's price & location? My hands are also kind of large; I grip small kyusu with the handle going between my index and middle finger (thumb holding the lid). Is that the grip that's uncomfy for larger hands?

Fingers faster than brain, sorry for the rec above, you already know it. Not sure how much exp you have with flat kyusu, so if it's any help: this particular shape is flexible for volume since it's widest at the top and a few mm in height make a big diff. I just measured mine (Sazen Hasamiyaki) and ...
