Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Well, I'm intrigued now... Could you please elaborate or give me a direction for further research/reading? Unfortunately there is close to zero material available to read... boils down to seeing and comparing confirmed examples with collectors. That is why I can't make any definite statements on th...

How does the underside of the pot body look like?
Here it is:

Thanks! Seems to me that this pot may be a little older.

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Nice pot. Especially the lid lol, that would be nice to have the body to it... How does the underside of the pot body look like? Just be mindful that the Urushi repair will not hold forever, especially in that crucial position. It will very likely snap off again at some point. Thank you! All I can ...

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Hello people. Wanted to share one of my "frankenstein" pots - it arrived damaged, and what I initially thought was a color/firing variegated lid appeared to be a basalt-black ferromagnetic Juni from Yixing teapot. Perhaps the lid is much older than its current Chaozhou pot body and has been well san...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I just got a pouch of Aged Anxi Tanbei TGY from thetea.pl, and it is so enjoyable on a windy, sunny winter day.
It looks a bit like a relative to Yancha, but after initial infusion, when the roast unfolds, the leaves' fruity and juicy base comes out.
Cheers!

Re: Tetsubin

Beautiful tetsubin! I think that is the first time I've seen chunks of cast iron glued to the bottom of a tetsubin and yet I have a vague memory of it. It is definitely time for it to have some really tannic assam boiled in it. [/quote] Oh thanks! And apologies for missing here... The kettle is alm...

Re: Tetsubin

Hi everyone! To boost the topic a bit - sharing my latest acquisition from an online thrift store, and really happy to revitalize this one. To my joy, the exterior is in excellent condition - just a bit dusty, but rust occupied it all from the inside, so a solid piece of work is to be done to cure i...

Re: Yixing

Nice job. It still surprises me sometimes how spanking clean these come out after a bath like that. I can imagine this being a soothing distraction from the madness around you... Thank you! Oh yes, this one revealed very nice to touch velvety surface, the other ones Zini/QSN pots I’ve been holding ...

Re: Yixing

Very nice! Late 70s in my view. The stains were not as bad as I feared, it came out well! Oh, thanks! Just went across my notes and bookmarks - and yes, thank you for pointing out more corresponding time gap - that thick lid lip and partially worn out 6:4 stamp still didn't match into my original s...

Re: Yixing

Let me show my update on the teapot cleaning - it arrived recently and to my release, it appeared not so dirty as I thought. Seems it was used as a water dropper for calligraphy so minor ink stains were only on the outside, along with mineral scale residues from around the lid opening and on the edg...

Re: Yixing

Good day, people!
Just wondering - does anybody know something about this book or own it - is it worth having on a shelf? Is it any representative of the classics of Yixing pots and informative anyhow, or more a kind of a vintage photo-album with various purple clay teapots?
