The biggest one for me is also multi-tasking, and failing to fully appreciate the tea as a result. Unless it's decaffeinated, all tea made from the leaves of camellia sinensis and its close relatives has caffeine. A few other plants used for hot drinks, mostly in the holly family, also have caffeine.

Do you mean potency in terms of caffeine? If so, brewing it for many hours at a high temperature does extract more caffeine than a short or cool steep of the same leaves, yes. It results in a very bitter tea that doesn't taste good without additives, though. Other ways to get more caffeine from tea ...
