Re: Hojo Tea
I was also disappointed by the lack of dancong on the Gargantuan Tea site. (BTW, I think it's an American, not a Canadian, vendor, which makes a difference in terms of the shipping cost.) Thanks for the correction. What dancong teas have you tried from Hojo? And which ones are your personal favorit...

LOL
Yeah, if green tea— or any tea!— led to weight loss a lot of us would be looking like Starvin’ Marvin.

Re: Brass kettle useable?
My great grandmother passed away last year, and I got this kettle from her. I have no idea if I can actually use it to brew tea or not, and the only thing it says is “Made in Germany” on the bottom. Does anyone know if it’s usable? ./download/file.php?id=15010 I would look to get it tinned on the i...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic
I don't think the issue here is "are TdJ's prices too high" but rather the whole exchange rate trick where you effectively have two different menus on the table and the answer to the arbitrary question "where are you located?" determines what prices you are charged. Personally, I think some of thei...

How do you reach the station master? My local branch literally does not pick up the phone for their posted (harhar) number.

Re: Boiled tea flavour
I remember that when I was boiling tea in my stainless steel pan, it would always turn out different than when brewing in a gaiwan or in a thermos. The taste was strong, all right, but it was always kind of equalized, minty, not very interesting. Good when you want to extract the leaves quickly and...

Re: Your favorite Dan Cong vendor?
I'd take anything tea related that KZ says/recommends with a grain of salt. Too much ego in that one. Some teas he has recommended in the past were junky.

Re: Yixing
For stubborn pot smells I have tried vinegar, baking soda, citric acid soaks and boiling all with pretty limited success - nothing has worked as well for me as sodium percarbonate for any kind of cleaning. Agreed! Sodium percarbonate has worked the best at cleaning for me too. I did receive a piece...

Re: Tea Quiz
Hmmmmm "1 teaspoon of tea per 1 cup of water" I don't know of anyone who prepares tea by measured teaspoons. With so many varieties of tea, 1 tsp per cup of water would hardly be universal enough to be called a "Golden Ratio". I weigh in grams or gauge by sight. Also, rooibos is no more tea than Red...
