Re: Planned Times for Opening Packets of Seasons' Gaoshan
People sometimes confuse the perceived “green-ness” of Gaoshan oolong with a green tea in the original sense(like Sencha or Chinese greens). As you noticed, Gaoshan if we’ll made last for well over a year, even years. Green can do so, but it will change more rapidly and some will benefit of a roast...

Re: What would you tell your novice self about tea
1. You don't need that many teapots (I've personally stopped at five). 2. Don't buy things solely because other people rave about it (this includes the shop owner who is brewing it for you - trust your own palate). 3. Don't buy puerh expecting it to age and get better. Just buy older tea if you want...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Last night I played with DXJD's Wuyi Heritage que she which I had enjoyed quite a bit on a previous occasion, only to find that it tasted rather different, and considerably more flat, compared to what I had remembered from that previous occasion... Thinking it was perhaps my choice of teapot, I pla...

Re: Lets talk about Da Yu Ling
I have been told from most every vendor here that Winter teas are top down and Spring bottom up, so I am quite certain that this is the procedure, ... shows plenty of Dayuling tasting sessions having occurred in the past few days. For spring tea, I wholly agree on being patient and waiting to see w...

Re: Lets talk about Da Yu Ling
Curious, why would you say this? Winter teas are harvested from the top down in terms of altitude (the opposite of spring) and generally they are available for tasting by mid/end of October. The harvest is weather dependent and not totally like clockwork each year, but it's usually always some time...

Re: Lets talk about Da Yu Ling
I see that consumers can pre-order dayuling for this upcoming season, a season that I imagine would not have its highest tea leaves picked for at least several weeks . Curious, why would you say this? Winter teas are harvested from the top down in terms of altitude (the opposite of spring) and gene...

芭樂 / Bale Two F1 pots - later green label on the left, 70s (pre-green label) on the right. The differences are pretty clear here, notably the thickness on the rim of the lids and an overall "puffiness" in the green label which is absent in the earlier pot. https://i.imgur.com/lL7E58u.png https://i.i...

Re: Puerh from sthirtytea.com
Hey, good tea is hard to come by, especially abroad! No judgement there, and it's cheap enough per session. Just not for meChadrinkincat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 12:19 amBenjamin
I just payed roughly 8300nt for a 2003 Xiaguan iron "XIAO FEI" so I guess I’m one of those people.

Re: Puerh from sthirtytea.com
I saw them pop up on Instagram, but haven’t heard anything. Looks like some young people tea start up. Or second generation giving their parents shop a rebranding. This is the daughter of Mr. Yang of Yang Qing Hao - she has an instagram handle with a very similar name where you can see a lot of the...

Re: Yixing
As I was warming up my modern ruyi pot, i noticed a stream of bubbles rise from the bottom of the pot near the middle. There is no obvious leak. Is this a sign of a crack? The stream of bubbles make a slight buzzing noise. Not sure if it has been like this for a while. I only use the pot for shou a...

Re: Yixing
Thanks everyone for the insight. I have never had this clay, does it act like zini or hongni or a in-between ? With presumably green-label hongni being the clay that's in contact with the tea, I imagine it would brew similarly to other hongni from that time, but I've never used a 內外淋漿/neiwailinjian...

Re: Yixing
This is a 60s from the same vendor. ./download/file.php?id=8627 While this looks reasonably 60s to my amateur eye, it tells us nothing about the original pot in question. Many vendors here in Taiwan have some decent pots sitting next to things I'd hopefully have the wisdom not to buy. Not suggestin...
