Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread
Because I'm totally impatient, I'm drinking a pre-Qingming Meng Ding Huang Ya from Treasure Green today (3 g, 120 ml, 176F, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, etc.). I think this is my first yellow tea from Meng Ding. I get lovely notes of corn silk, butter, hazelnuts, green beans, and faint florals in a thick...

Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread
I've already got some beautiful pre-Ming buds from Treasure Green, which I'm having a hard time saving. My Teavivre order is on the way, and I've barely begun ordering from Seven Cups. Looks like my comparative tasting may need to wait a while. vgamedude , if you want a step up from YS, I'd recommen...

Re: Your day in tea
I had a rather light tea day. I worked on finishing some 2023 Anji Bai Cha to make room for my 2024 green teas, grandpa steeping 3 g in about 250 ml of water. It lasted at least five steeps and retained much of the green bean, asparagus, and umami profile I like about this tea, probably because it w...

Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread
The past few years I’ve purchased all my Chinese greens from Seven Cups. What they’ve been doing is offering a 20§ discount the first weekend they offer a new tea or teas. Of course I always end up buying enough tea to get free shipping! I like to space out my purchases so I can drink the tea soon ...

Re: What White Are You Drinking
Unfortunately, I waited too long to get the white tea set from Daxue Jiadao and it's now out of stock. Has anyone had the Baihao Yinzhen Wuyangshan 2020? Is it worth the price? How does it compare with the Baihao Yinzhen Chaitoushan Huangye 2023, which I'm also thinking about buying? I should make u...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
I'm drinking the Castleton Floral Spring 2023 FF and am finding similar tasting notes to LeoFox : lots of citrus and honey, perfumey spring florals, and astringency that can get out of hand if I steep it more than 3 minutes or hotter than about 180F. This is still a nice FF that feels suitably sprin...

2024 Chinese green tea thread
It's that time of year again, when people start getting excited about the first green tea harvest! Every year, I wonder whether fancy green tea is worth the cost, so I finally decided to find out. I've pre-ordered Teavivre's Mingqian Bi Luo Chun and Mingqian Long Jing, as well as samples of Mingqian...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic
I don't drink much Japanese green tea because I find it to be too grassy, bitter, and vegetal for me, no matter how I brew it. The few teas I've been given from TdJ are the only ones to go against that trend. Their sencha and black teas were fruity, floral, and usually not too bitter, making them cl...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic
If I understand aet correctly, TdJ may have to pay extra in exchange/processing fees if foreign customers pay in yen. However, this doesn't explain why they suddenly stopped offering this option without informing their customers and then gave an unhelpful explanation when they were asked why they di...

Re: Green Tea Vendor Topic
If I'd wanted to explore Japanese tea, I would have chosen this vendor. I'm disappointed, and I'm sure they'll lose customers. "Technical reasons" is not a good explanation. I wonder if it's due to an update on their shopping cart platform and if other vendors are affected.

Re: Looping usps packages
I've never had a package loop through nearby parts of the country, but it sounds pretty frustrating! I had a package that was stuck in customs for about six weeks from late November 2023 to mid January 2024. Canada Post was convinced it had been delivered, and issuing a ticket didn't change their mi...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Wild Lapsang Souchong from Wuyi Origin: The flavor seems a blend of a few flavors, that I mind not being able to name because I am reviewing the tea. It is somewhat familiar to me though I cannot come up with a word for it. One can feel it is not wrong to connect this w/ what we think of as Lapsang...

Re: Thinking about how to get your tea to please you the most it can
I have no problem with drinking teas past their peak of flavour; I see it as a farewell. I agree with this. As a vendor, Ethan probably has an enviable supply of good tea, so opting to drink only the best infusions seems reasonable. However, I like to get the most out of my leaves, both because I'm...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
LeoFox , I've almost finished a 25 g pack of the Margaret's Hope Moonlight and am enjoying it, though you're right that the aromas are strong. I didn't get corn, but got some citrus and mango, kind of like a floral IPA. I'm steeping it at around 175F in 150 ml of water for 2.5/3.5/5/7 minutes. I'll...
