Re: Tillerman Tea
Dear friends in tea, After nearly a quarter of a century of involvement with the teas of Taiwan, and 17 years of operating Tillerman Tea, the time has come to say goodbye. Tillerman was founded on the principle of direct sourcing. And that meant regular trips to Taiwan to meet with growers and produ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Hi Victoria , when comparing TGY to Dong Ding, look at the way the acid in the tea hits your tongue. The TGY should give a sharp line of acidity that hits at the base of the tongue and moves forward. With the Dong Ding, the acid is higher in the mouth and not as sharp. I'm not good at most of the no...

@StoneLadle did you actually try the tea from Zhen Tea in Ottawa? I have and I completely disagree with your comment. @teaformeplease's description is right on the money.

Re: Rec. Request: US/American Tea Vendors
teanik , Wow, thank you so much for your very flattering comments! I will do my best to live up to them. As to having very fine teas in the selection, all credit must go to the growers and producers with whom I work; they are a fabulous bunch who, over the years, have moved from being suppliers to ...

For excellent high roasted TGY try the Muzha TGY from Taiwan. Choose carefully for a lot of the leaf out there is not TGY at all but rather qing xin. As always, look for reputable growers.

Re: Lets talk about Da Yu Ling
Benjamin is absolutely correct. Spring bottom up, Winter top down (these are rules of thumb, of course) but with climate change the differences between Spring and Winter are becoming much harder to detect. Growers and tea makers producing a "fresh" style tend to harvest earlier whereas producers ma...

Re: Lets talk about Da Yu Ling
Lishan or even good Shanlinxi is a much better deal than DYL in terms of cost:performance. Often mentioned already, but still worth emphasising. We also should bear in mind the the "best" DYL from gardens above 2500m, no linger exist. Modern DYL has no elevation advantage over the highest grown Lis...
