Re: Snapped lid knob - Epoxy DIY? Kintsugi?
Seems that the consensus that JB Weld is the way to go. So something like this( https://www.amazon.com/J-B-Weld-ClearWeld-Syringe-25mL/dp/B07D1NX76J/ ), but no sealant needed right? It will work, but personally I have a very low opinion on this JB Weld Clear 5 min epoxy. What would you suggest inst...

Re: Snapped lid knob - Epoxy DIY? Kintsugi?
I'm thinking maybe just epoxying the highlighted part to reduce exposure to epoxy would be best?
Really sad, this was my nicest pot. Not that I was planning to sell it so resale value isn't a big deal, but still sad - Tue May 16, 2023 2:48 pm

Re: Snapped lid knob - Epoxy DIY? Kintsugi?
Facing the same problem, but entirely because of my stupidity. I was irritated that the breather hole atop the lid was misaligned, and had the brilliant idea to use my watch strap changing tool to file away the hole. It got stuck, and I used a different tool to knock it out. The breathing hole is fi...

Using teas for cooking
Does anyone have suggestions for using tea for cooking, particularly for desserts? I've amassed more than my fair share of tea that aren't necessarily bad, but that I have a hard time drinking through, both from my own purchases and from gifts, like lighter roasted oolongs and jasmine tea. I used a ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
2.4g '05 Taihe loose leaf from Wistaria and 3.3g YQH Lingya mixed today in a 130 mL pot. Both were purchased from LP at some point. I didn't intend to have a mixed tea session, but I did a poor job of keeping amounts updated in my sample spreadsheet and had to improvise. Quiet morning session starti...

Re: 2022 Some prices highlights
My bad!! It's been a tiring week and I didn't realise. I also was looking at Bang Dong prices and not Bing Dao. Bingdao, no way... that is some insane level pricing LOL. Crazy market

Re: Tea when sick
Like Balthazar mentioned, the honey loquat bottled syrup if I have any on hand, but aside from that, also chenpi teas and those with the medicated leaven like taste (certain mid aged sheng seem to have it) are for whatever bizarre reason what I gravitate towards. When I was sick as a child, the odd ...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
Weather was nice out today, and starting to warm up out here. Did the first young sheng session in a very long time. Not sure what this is exactly, but was from Paul’s mystery box and was just labeled as 今年春茶 [this year’s spring tea]. Not terribly long lasting, but reasonably interesting and enjoyab...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Brewed the rest of the sample today (same water, temp, except 90mL gaiwan instead) since I tend to end up forgetting about random samples if I don't run through them straightaway. Gaiwan today instead of pot. More of a cherry-like smell in warmed gaiwan. Wonder if the release from vacuum sealing and...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
IMG_7226.jpg 謐香紅茶 from Wistaria today. They included a 10g vacuum sealed sample with my order, so brewed 5g of it today in 90 mL, boiling water, Brita filtered tap. Didn't feel energetic enough to go for something more attention demanding, so did four steeps before tossing into thermos. Dry leaf ha...

Re: T SHOP NY
Having read a comment mentioning that slightly higher TDS water for oolong works better, tried the TS LCSX ( https://www.tshopny.com/shop/old-bush-shui-xian ) today first w/ filtered tap at 100 TDS and then with 46 TDS Poland Spring bottled water and was amazed at the difference. I wasn't able to fi...

Re: Timeline on fixing storage issues
Thanks for posting that picture Andrew! A stark difference indeed. I broke up the brick and will leave it in Mylar for a couple of months to see what happens, purely out of curiosity at this point. No dust hiding, but a few seed pods, branches, a couple strands of hair, a piece of plastic, a piece o...

Re: Timeline on fixing storage issues
I guessed huang pian too. The only other tea that looks similar is the other HP samples I bought from Yiwu Mountain Tea, but they're not very aged yet so don't look quite as ghastly. Brewing in a gaiwan could be part of it due to decreased heat retention, but it did have very poor longevity. wave_co...
