Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I recently received this canister of tea from a friend. It seems to be a wuyi grown dancong? I have never tried this style before. Does anyone have experience with this?

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Another difference is that the summer slx has a distinctive green pepper note that became more bitter as i got to the bottom of the bag. The LFX didnt seem to have that, and is in general more fruit forward. It is also likely my taste is off. My experiences with wines rarely match the vendor tastin...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Enjoyed a nice 2020 longfengxia from TTC in kobiwako. Found it to be intensely perfumed and flowery: mainly rose and some lavendar. "Intensely perfumed" sounds unusual for that tea. Perhaps I am confused. This year I enjoyed what I spelled in English as "longfanshiu". It came from high up Shanlinxi...

Re: American "faculty teas"?
We had master's teas at yale. At least in the early 2000s when i was there, we were always served teabags and/ or coffee. Cool, I was at Yale during the same time as you, teaching architecture, and drinking a lot of expresó. Maybe we meet? Lived near Romeo’s on Avon St. We never had faculty teas th...

Just brewed Hojo's Tsukigase Zairai Sencha in Hojo's kobiwako shibo: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kIe4gjxM3ZU/X34V4xEdzpI/AAAAAAAAJeQ/Zo-0feERzIQDkk7E4a8-8nkSg6QAok3CACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201007_145803.jpg Brewed at 90 C per Hojo's instruction. The tea smells almost exactly like Taiwanese bao zhong! It ...

Re: Hokujo, Kobiwako & Iga Clay
Just received the kobiwako shibo from HoJo! Immediately brewed a shan lin xi ive been drinking almost every day recently. I can confirm the clay seems to make an immediate impact: the tea has a much deeper tropical fruit sweetness that i associate with green oolong. This flavor also seems to linger ...

Re: American "bed & breakfast" tea-culture
What led to the rise of british style afternoon tea culture in the 1980s usa? Was there a surge in anglophilia at that time? Was it really about the tea, or some fetishization of pre-WW Britannia? Was it mainly among the WASP conservative establishment? In this way, does it contrast with the more ea...

Re: Yixing advice
I recently received two pots from my aunt in China. Pot 1 was purchased early 2000s during some chinese art show. Pot 2 was purchased much earlier, She doesn't remember when or the circumstances (she is in her 70s). I think pot 1 was clearly wheel thrown. Maybe a cz. I was wondering if i could get ...
