I use flat shapes all the time for rolled oolong, against popular opinion it works a treat :)
Curious about what kind and level of flat you use.

Last one’s character are 東山
You mean this one, yes? Googled it and got hits mostly related to Higashiyama but no images of porcelain. Then I flipped the characters and got Shandong. Now wondering if the second character (or first?) might be missing the bottom element...

Re: The Porcelain Thread

Hi all. Wondering if someone out there can help me identify two Japanese makers and whether one thing is Japanese or Chinese. The first: ./download/file.php?id=5480 ./download/file.php?id=5467 ./download/file.php?id=5465 For some reason I can’t edit in a fourth pic, so here goes a close up of the s...

Would help if you would add images of the pieces. You can edit your posts to add more images. Maybe S_B can help translate.
Yes. Just edited the first one. Now on to the second. Thanks!

Re: The Porcelain Thread

Thank you so much, Victoria ! I was precisely looking around similar websites and googling "japanese mark fuji" to try to figure out the third one. It's Fukagawa, though I don't know yet who the maker is. CC525D66-E057-4861-8E1C-D6BCD44272BD.jpeg And regarding the two first ones (one is a Kyusu, the...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

I don’t drink sencha or shincha because I’m too sensitive to bitterness. So while the shincha thread is busy I enjoy some fresh Chinese greens to celebrate the new harvest. My favorite tea is Tai Ping Hou Kui, ordered from Seven Cups. I have the perfect pot for steeping it, a gaiwan from Seong-Il. ...

Re: Looking to pair some pots. Ideas on where to begin?

Julunzhu, about 100ml. It is surely not zhuni as meant when referring to antique or high-end teapots, but it does not seem to be very porous or muting. Oh! I wanted to get that one, but they were out. Love the shape. And regarding it not being muting, in an experiment with an Iron Goddess it not on...

Re: Looking to pair some pots. Ideas on where to begin?

faj Thanks so much for the reply. Just a question: the Kobiwako makes Japanese greens in general sweeter or is it more specific to types? Btw, Zhuni I have is also from M&L. It’s a Wen Dan. 120ml. 10 sec pour or so, so we’ll see how all that factors in next. So far, I found that the clay did much b...

Re: Looking to pair some pots. Ideas on where to begin?

Nice and interesting progress you made there! Very diligent and patient. I’d add one caveat: some clays, especially if they are new, do only show their full potential after a while of being used. I’m my experience, especially Zini can take some time until it’s at its best. I will keep in mind. I wi...

Re: Looking to pair some pots. Ideas on where to begin?

Sorry I left this thread hanging for a while. It's been weird times. First of all, thank you faj for your very detailed and thoughtful comments. Somewhat opposite to you, until fairly recently, I was only drinking japanese greens (in very diverse japanese teaware). Then I started getting into Chines...
