Re: Yixing
The design/shape seems to have been popular. There were two other pots like this in the shop I got mine from with very similar designs, but none of them had chops. One of them was glazed and the other had a weird clay + looked like it was thrown on a wheel. The latter actually had a stamp on the bot...

Re: Yixing
Thanks for all the replies. Very cool to find this stuff Just took it out of its last soak in bicarbonate and the smell is gone and it looks very nice. Will make a big pot of shu in it this weekend!

Re: Yixing
Picked up this huge pot yesterday, and cleaned it up a bit. Clay seems similar to my headless ox pot. I seem to remember this shape from the f2 catalog, but I only find the scans in tiny resolution. Could this be a factory pot? It has a clay filter basket, and some makers marks. I’ll take some more...

Re: How I got started with Dan Cong
Nice thread! I’ve been experimenting with brewing parameters with some affordable dancongs recently. I feel they are really finicky... Flash steeps has given the most consistent results, but often I feel I could’ve gotten more out of the teas if o did something different. (Seems easy to oversteep to...

Re: Yixing
Brought out my headless ox pot that I found last year and made some late night shu. It’s a nice pot, but a bit too big for me. Not often I have a need to make this much tea haha.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Drinking some mi lan xiang in a relatively new zini pot I got from yinchen. I really like this pot! Figured I would use it exclusively for a while for all the teas I drink, not designating it for anything. It’s got a really fast pour and seems to excel at dancong! Re: Tong Xin She (TXS) Teahouse
I’ve had a few different ones. It’s been a mixed bag, ranging from bland to superb. I’m currently drinking their Jin guan yin. It’s quite alright but nothing special. Their DHPs I found disappointing and sort of bland (I just finished a tin of their 2019 DHP). Lao cong man tang xiang really splendid...

Re: Yee On Tea Co. - 義安茶莊
It's been a while since I had the time to brew tea, but I've been drinking the best taste ripe puerh over christmas, and it's a nice daily drinker. Quite simple taste, but very pleasant. Prefer this over the YS Hui run cakes as a daily drinker. Brought a jar of it to work :) Planning to crack open t...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking
With autumn in full force and all the shu discussion in the other thread, I’ve been drinking shu this weekend. I don’t drink puerh as often as oolongs, but I like those that I have. Yesterday I made some YS hui run 2017. It brews really really dark, sort of like coffee. I like it, but it’s sort of o...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Drinking a really nice oolong tonight. A lightly oxidized 2013 si ji chun from ville trær. Lovely aroma, and strong notes of honey like advertised! Bought 100g but I think I will stock up on this (if he got more). 77082473-7B68-4556-A498-23E12FA43F6C.jpeg 7ADB8891-224B-46A3-92F7-66F49F930F63.jpeg 34...

Re: Mei leaf
@tendingtropic Welcome! I'm a newcomer here too. I learned lots from the Mei Leaf YouTube channel at one point, but I've yet to sample any of their teas, so I cannot comment on that. For awhile I subscribed to their email newsletter, but unsubscribed because the hard-sell rubbed me the wrong way. I...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Hmm, just made some more in the same pot. Was curious and figured I could brew some more while the last session was fresh in memory. 12g/140ml slightly longer first steeps. Same flat result. Transferred the leaves to a 100 ml gaiwan for the third steep to rule out clay variables messing with stuff (...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Today I used 8g/140 ml zhuni. Water off the boil. 10/10/20s and so on. What was the tea to leaf ratio last time? Seems like a fairly low ratio for yancha to me. Nice bird :) Similar ratio in a smaller pot, but with a slightly shorter steep. I’ll try a higher leaf ratio the next time! Most likely in...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Drinking a 2013 dhp from txs. Had it yesterday, and brewed it again today with different parameters. Has come out sort of thin both times. But! it has a sticky lingering sweetness to it that builds up at the back of the throat through the successive steeps. Quite good, but I reckon I can steep it mu...
