Re: WTB: Yamada So Blue Kyusu

Thanks for linking those. I wonder if that "sharp" flavor the poster is talking about only comes out when tea comes into direct contact with the the glaze. Chip's pots are all unglazed on the inside so maybe that's he's not getting any unpleasant flavors from it. In any case, it still should be som...

Re: WTB: Yamada So Blue Kyusu

I have several of Taisuke’s unglazed pots and find that they increase the sensation of body and produce a smooth liquor without muting. There’s been a post here regarding the Sou’s aoyu pots contributing a bad flavor to tea. They are pretty but I’ve avoided them because of this risk. His mayake pot...

Yamada Sou Woodfired Kyusu

Letting go of the last of my unused teapots and I've saved the best for last :D As many of us on the forum know, Sou's parts are known for the smooth pouring and impeccable handling and this pot is no exception. The black glaze on the underside of the handle makes this pot in particular particular c...

Gafu Hiragata 100ml Kyusu

Spring cleaning has led me to come across my secret-stash of pots that have sat unused. I love the look of this pot but I really don't have much use for pots of this size. 200ml+ seems to be the sweet spot for me. Only asking for $100(+shipping) from Seattle 20210325_150758.jpg 20210325_150833.jpg 2...

Re: Japanese Teaware Vendor Recommendations

Before the end-of-year holidays, I had an email exchange with Takeyoshi from tokoname.or.jp about a couple of teapots. The replies were coming in quickly, but suddenly stopped, and I have not heard back since despite a few follow-ups. I wonder if my emails are being blocked by an anti-spam filter o...

Re: Hokujo Teaware

I found this now already sold offering of Hokujo. Never seen this kind of shape/glaze(?) from him. Somehow it reminds me of Inge Nielsen work. http://www.tokoname.or.jp/teapot/maker_profile/hokujo/hokujo79.htm Happy new year :) Very nice pot. Don't see wood fired pots like that too often with that ...

Re: Hokujo Teaware

Can you describe what Hokujo’ new kyusu look like, since you were able to see them? Clay, firing, form.. Sure thing! Both teapots I was shown were exactly the same apart from handle type(one was a 'ball' type handle, the other was one of the more long narrow varieties he makes). I'm not sure the ty...

Re: Hokujo Teaware

Artistic Nippon or Isobe should have some, no? AN only really has one or two large pots up right now and only one is made out of his signature clay. From what I‘ve been told(not by AN) Hokujo is moving away from his standard yakishime pots and now is focusing solely on making more expensive ‘one-of...

Re: Hokujo Teaware

Does anyone happen to have a Hokujo that they would be willing to part with? I accidentally broke the inner wall of mine trying to add more holes in one of his older slow pouring direct hole pots :( Any one of his side-handle pots around 150ml+ I think would be ideal for me since I would only be usi...

Re: Tetsubin

I’m looking for a smaller tetsubin as I only tend to use sub 100ml water per infusion...also TAD. Found these on Yahoo, but can’t decipher a name. Anyone familiar? They are pricey but nice(looking), the lack of an urushi plug on the bottom is new to me. Looks like its made by a brand called kansei ...
