Re: Looking for new tea tray recommendations

My current "large" tray has a pull out basket but the drain tube is sealed off. I got this one secondhand for relatively cheap but I've seen them at reasonable prices on ebay, aliexpress, etc. teabooksart_91297308_637104860446725_7184702353567316476_n.jpg And my smaller one I got off ebay as well. I...

Re: Chaozhou/Shantou

Can anyone confirm the authenticity of the DaHongPao Chaozhou clay from BitterLeafTeas? It doesn't seem to match the descriptions on this thread. It is dark red (supposedly from aging) rather than orangey red. I'm not sure if it's true Chaozhou clay that has been aged, or clay from another source, ...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Reflecting on last winters Taiwan oolong production being less complex, due to low rainfall, I'm feeling I have easily adjusted. As I sip on HY Chen’s '19 winter medium roast DongDing am finding I can still have good sessions just by increasing leaf gram/time steeped. While it is slightly less arom...

Brew(Work)-from-home setups!

I know a lot of us are working from home now - and some of us already were or even if you aren't but have a dedicated spot set up for your tea - please share! I'd love to see what others are doing! For my own setup, I wanted to keep things easy to reach but, since I have cats, also something that co...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

I don't... in fact, I'm almost definitely using less as the leaves unfurl. If you are using a larger teapot because you infuse a bigger volume of water, then that makes sense to me. But why would it be required or preferable to use, say, a 200ml teapot to make 100ml of tea just because the leaves e...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Do you use more water in later infusions as leaves grow in size? I don't... in fact, I'm almost definitely using less as the leaves unfurl. I should do a side-by-side comparison at some point. However, as the flavor tapers off the shift in ratio likely helps the flavor concentration? Maybe? The clo...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Good morning tea with Dachi Tea Co.'s Sky High oolong and my kyusu set from Your_Teapot (Instagram)! This tea is buttery and sweet, mellow tones of cream, and the underlying minerality of spring water is a perfect gentle wake up call. I couldn't resist photographing the leaves as well! I love how ab...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

and I’m digging your post teabooksart. That Kunming sounds really good, and your capture tells an elegant story with notes of Spring approaching. Thank you! I like being able to do reviews like this. I may have been procrastinating a bit on writing papers but sometimes a tea break is necessary! Thi...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Was sent an absolutely lovely sample of a 2002 7581 Kunming Tea Brick from PuerhPrivate (instagram). Did a light steep first and then went all out and I have to say the chocolate and woodiness of this tea is really special. I'm digging the contrast between the crisp upfront flavor and the velvety li...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking

Brewed some Dachi Tea Frozen Summit (which I believe is a Dong Ding) last night during class. Probably one of my favorites from the sampler I received from them. It's sweet and roasty with surprising longevity (both in number of steeps and lingering palette) I forgot to get a photo of the dry tea bu...

Thank you for checking in! I have about 32 participants at this point - it's been fun going through the replies. Once I'm done I will attempt to aggregate replies and make it so those who do not wish their information to be shared are removed from anything I might link to! This will probably happen ...

Thank you all so much! I'll take a look at these places and probably order from a few of them over time and make the decision on what I like best!

Rating current matcha and finding good cost/oz matcha (recs requested)

Hey all! As the title says, I'm looking for recs for good matcha but also that isn't super expensive price/gram. I was gifted or got as a promo some teas from a few locations so I will list the current costs here. What I'd like to know is if these matchas are worth the cost and if there is something...

Any details on what kind of white it is? Curious.

There's the 2018 version but this one is the 2019. He said "the white I'm sending is from 2019. I actually prefer the 2019 one to the 2018." So that's all I know!
