Re: The (Western) Yixing market

Inspired by another thread, I wanted to start this discussion about the (Western) Yixing market, which has been on my mind recently while on the hunt to perfect my own collection. [. . .] Those are my observations, what is the community’s take on it? One quirk is that your average internet buyer do...

Re: F2 teapots

F2 tends to be a cheap alternative to F1 pots.. No real reason to seek out F2 unless you find one for cheap or just want to do a factory 1 + 2 comparison. Imho a fair price for most F2 should be 50% less than a comparable late 80-90’s F1 pot. $85 for late 90’s shui-ping? Easy pass considering this i...

Re: Yixing advice

Hello guys, what do you think about these two pots? The sellers advertises them as white label F1 teapots. Which do you think is better? (The price is much lower, I am in contact with the seller outside of eBay) https://www.ebay.com/itm/223941504375 https://www.ebay.com/itm/223941508108 Bok The det...

Re: Yixing

@Mark-S

This is black bone. I don’t see anything remotely similar going on with your pot.

Re: Yixing

@archimon
Glad to hear I wasn’t wrong about the clay type.

Nothing wrong with going for the cheaper pot. You can always upgrade to something nicer or just stick with this one if its satisfies your needs.

Re: Yixing

It could easily be a mistake in labeling the pot or I could be mistaken about clay. The price suggest it is a coated pot though. Yep, that's true. But the craftsmanship is also not that good. This is not one of their better pots for sure. The lid on this one looks sorta like F2 which is a possibili...

But the seller refers to the pot as HongNi. If the pot is only coated with HongNi this wouldn't be honest in my opinion.

Re: Yixing

archimon That 1st pot doesn’t look like pure hongni. It might be zini coated inside + out w/ hongni which would explain why it is so cheap. The second one is definitely a significantly better pot since it is pre-77 hongni w/o any additives. The EOT pot is a poor choice for Gaoshan due to muting pro...

Re: Yixing

@steanzeI’m not a big fan of that design but it is clearly well done in my opinion. I’m curious to know how much that F1 pot sold for compared the original design you linked to.

Re: Yixing

Unlisted prices are normally start at $1000. That pot is from master/famous section though so it’s probably $$$$. It's by a lesser-known craftsman from the 80s, and it isn't very finely made, so I would be surprised if it's that expensive - but ZAG's prices are on the high side, so it is possible. ...

Re: Yixing

TeaTotaling I'd consider this pot awesome for example: http://zishaartgallery.com/product/研究级高级工艺美术师-丁亚平-za0164/ And it would cost me at least $2000. At least somebody here said that all pots without a price tag would cost +$2000. The "ordinary" F1 pots they sell cost nearly $500, and are often not...
