Re: What Green Are You Drinking
Heard about a tea for the longest time and completely ignored it. Yet once I tried it, it was love at first sight.. GENMAICHA!! Buttered popcorn tea from Thes Du Japon!! The crackling of the toasted rice when the boiling water hits it.. The thick aroma that stuck in my sinuses long after the tea ses...

Re: Does anyone believe anyone any more?
I've learned the hard way that sharing tea with people who don't have experience with loose leaf tea can be troublesome.. They have doctored up their tea bag tea with so much that it isn't even tea anymore. So if you taste a wonderful baozhong, you will say that its too faint or I don't taste anythi...

Re: What Black Are You Drinking
Had some red jade #18 and shan cha.. love the Yuchi blacks.. I can't get enough of them. Blackberries, cereal note, with molasses and some strawberry note wafting in and out. May I ask where you get your Yuchi black teas? What-Cha used to have amazing versions of Assam, Ruby 18, and Shancha, but on...

Re: What would you tell your novice self about tea
The first thing I would tell myself is to focus on just a few teas, gain some experience and then slowly try other teas. I would also tell myself to ignore most of the BS a vendor might throw up on their website. You can only assess tea quality with experience but don't be obsessive over tea quality...

Re: Hokujo, Kobiwako & Iga Clay
My favorite Japanese clay pots for most teas: Kobiwako(for gaoshan, bilochuan, and some overly oxidized blacks) Iga(I am going to dedicate it to a tea but I've tried it with so many teas and it came out great. Because you can season it so quickly I will only drink one tea out of it but not sure whic...

2012 Yiwu from Yunnan Craft per Leo's tip: Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!! Very clean material, the rinse was immaculate. There was no smoke, no funk and no barnyard. It was clean, sweet and has just the right age on it. No young sheng astringency or aggression. if I'm going to...

Drinking Father's Love from Ethan Kurland : What a treat, its a sweet and tangy tea. It has depth and complexity. I was getting a berry note I'm not familiar with, orange peel, white pepper, and some strong qi. This is a great example how good material, good roasting and age transforms into a great ...

Re: What White Are You Drinking
I got a nice package from aet via YunnanCraft. There were some white teas that I wanted to try first. 2022 Bada Shan Wild White : A fantastic white tea that has real stamina. Juicy lemonade notes that evolved into something like a creamy popsickle. it left a nice film on my tongue and the flavor lin...

Had a very nice surprise while drinking some 1985 Liu Bao from YeeOnTeaCo . I had never tried LB that had been aged to this degree but it was well worth it to try it. I've had four gold coins LB, with others and had a good idea what too expect. The aged LB didn't have the bloody liquor that I've com...

Thanks for the information, sad to hear that is modern as it was advertised to be from the 80's. Yixing is a minefield, and I digress

Re: Yixing
Picked up an interesting Zhuni pot, not 100% sure of its age. Do you think its from the 80s, 90s or totally modern? I'd be great if I knew what it says at the bottom  It has a bit of lid play and looks handmade from the tool marks inside. The mica dots look a bit different from the modern z...

I was trying out this pre77 hongni 60ml shui ping from Chadrinkingcat drinking a Red Jade #18 Taiwanese black from Yuchi. Drinking from a 60ml teapot you can steep out the tea for a long time and not get full. This Taiwanese black didn't show how wonderful it truly was until I had steep it so long I...

My cup this morning was a sample Thés du Japon included with my last order, a sencha from Tenryu. I’m impressed how accurate the description of the flavors is. Your green tea sounds amazing too! TBH Thes du Japon has the most accurate tasting notes I've ever seen. So you know how much umami, astrin...
