Re: Chanting Pines
Sam told me that shipping will resume from Malaysia on Apr 28, so we should have them fairly soon. *Knocking on wood* I had a good convo with him prior to purchasing and he was very helpful. Good to know! *Knock, Knock* I thought there might have been a hold up, considering I placed my order on 4/2...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Bok :) Thank you kindly, I will most certainly take a look! Understood. Personally, a high price would justify a healthier habit. What is your personal preference, is this something you seek out and pay attention to ("cleaner" tea)? I agree, I'm not looking for organic at all but pesticide free sho...

Re: Chanting Pines
More research on the naming: first record of the name was found in late Qing. One source said a similar name (Kong Lun Zhu) first appeared in a Japanese record in the beginning of Meiji era. JLZ teapot is not defined by its shape, rather its functions. The pot has to be thick and small fit in a lit...

Re: Chanting Pines
I have a 120ml Ju Lun Zhu teapot(bronze grade) coming from CP. I would be curious to know what defines a Ju Lun Zhu. To my really novice eye, this is not a teapot I would have thought to be of that shape. I would have called that loosely "kind of a shuiping with the spout a bit more angled and shor...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I've been exploring the Wuyi oolongs for weeks now, each one I try offers something different. You can go from Rou Gui which is highly enjoyable for someone with a sweet tooth like myself to Bai ji guan(white cockscomb??) which can taste like snap peas to mushrooms. I like it all so far and it help...

Re: Yixing
That is a sexy pot, the sexiest pots to me are the breast shaped pots. It reminds me of the yahoos back in my home town that had beer mugs made in the shape of women's breasts. The Chinese did it with more tact Is there a site that has all the ming/qing yixing pot shapes on it?

Re: How long does it take for oxygen to ruin tea?
My Gui Fei had a gripstic on it, and it was inside a Airscape. I had some this morning and it is still great. I've had it since the start of February, so one of these solutions works well. I do have a very large bag of Oriental Beauty with a gripstic on it so I'll try that tomorrow and see if it hel...

Re: Yixing
That is a real nightmare, I've had friends attempt to manhandle my teaware. One in particular tried to use Dawn(tm) grease cleanser on one of my clay gaiwans. The gaiwan wasn't that expensive but daaamn I kinda snapped. You could hear me doing the movie sound, "Noooooooooooooooo...". Whenever I had...

Re: Yixing
I haven't broken any of my gaiwans yet, ...   I broke more than half of the gaiwans I purchased! Luckily, I didn't always break the same part, so they're all frankensteins now. I had a nightmare breaking multiple Yixing pots last night. I was never so happy waking up  Bac...

Re: Yixing
I read that with zhuni teapots you had to pour water at the top to wake the pot up so you don't crack the pot with boiling water. I'm not sure if that is necessary with other types of clays. This is very confusing, but also you don't want to ruin your teapot. I haven't broken any of my gaiwans yet, ...

Re: Yixing
Big thank you to @Bok and Emmett, instead of buying my first yixing teapot with no knowledge I'll rely on people who know their stuff. I could easily hit a landmine and buy a crappy pot my first go around but I'll stay my itchy trigger fingers :D. I have an affinity with xi shi, and julunzhu pots bu...

Re: How long does it take for oxygen to ruin tea?
I imagine it depends on the amount of oxygen. In a ziploc-resealable package or airtight storage container teas seem to stay good after opening for a month or two, probably more if you're not opening it every day to brew a cup. Disclaimer: my observations are based on sencha, not oolong. I'll have ...
