Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Looks like you are enjoying them and refined the parameters quite a bit, that’s great. The only other thing I forgot to mention was water type used and kettle type as important variables. Yesterday, I used local filtered tap and it turned what is consistently a great Kabusecha into a blah session. ...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

I recently made my first purchase from Thes Du Japon. I purchased Organic Sencha from Shimizu, Sayama Kaori cultivar, Sencha from Kagoshima Yamakai cultivar, and Organic Sencha from Koyu, Miyazaki Yamanami cultivar cultivar. The first two were more astringent (of bitter, if you will) than any other...

Re: Share your Tea Journey

I shared my journey in my introduction: https://www.teaforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=100&p=18632#p18632 I never thought of tea as a hobby until I discovered the forums. Tea was always a pleasurable past time for me. Even though I have been drinking loose green green tea from Japan for many years, it...

Re: Running Low on Sencha - What to do...

“Running low on Sencha, what to do?” Panic buy toilet paper! Ah wrong situation :) Sorry, couldn’t help it, every time I see this headline, that reply popped into my mind... Hope everyone is fine and don’t forget to laugh! I can't say that was one of the items I feared I would run out of. I have be...

Re: Running Low on Sencha - What to do...

Thank you, Victoria . I was aware of the thread, but I didn't see any new posts. A lot has changed in just the last several days, so it may not be relevant now. Fortunately I'm in good shape between all my green teas and my large purchase from Verdant last month. We will have to see how this plays o...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

I recently have returned to brewing 200 - 250ml in my original 360ml kyusu. Then I switched back to a combination of my 160ml kobiwako houhin and 160ml yohen mogake hiramaru kyusu by Hiroshi Mizuno. Love the both of them. The last week or so I'm using both of these exclusively, brewing 5gms of tea t...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

@debunix You have the greatest photographs. I can stare at them all day long. You are really motivating me to go out and buy a new camera to replace my Canon Rebel XS (which I got rid of a year ago). I'm thinking about a Canon Rebel T6.

Re: Running Low on Sencha - What to do...

This may have been discussed in another thread; sorry if I missed it, but is the spread of the virus affecting the production and shipment of tea from China and Japan? I recently purchased several packages of tea from O-cha and Thes Du Japon. I also tried the kabusecha from Birouen Tea House (love i...

Re: How do you use this? (bag sealing clips)

Thank you, klepto. And you’re right regarding the pricing. These are about 15 cents each normally. Sorry, I was late on the reply. Yes, I bought the Gripstics. They work nicely, but they are quite costly at $20 a package of 12. I bought the assorted pack because I wasn't sure what size I needed, bu...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

Poland Spring in Los Angeles? I thought they only distributed Poland Spring in the northeast. I use Poland Spring, but I have tried some other waters like Fiji and a couple of New Zealand, including a gallon of a brand from NZ that they sell at Trader Joe's (I don't recall the name of the water). Y...

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Interesting, because my first kyusu pot is 360ml. That is all I was using for a few months, and then I purchased a 160ml kyusu, a 160ml houhin, and a 150ml gaiwan. I find I'm using the 160ml kyusu and houhin more than the other pots, but I think tonight I will return to the 360ml as I would like to...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?

My old standby Pino kettle died after the jostling of being brought home from the office, so I was only able to compare 3 waters today, Poland Spring, Crystal Geyster, and filtered Los Angeles tap. I could not find Iceland Spring water. I was infusing some of the Kabuse from Obubu that I've been dr...

Re: How do you use this? (bag sealing clips)

I love these. I purchased some on Amazon and started using them a week ago or so. They are great. I bought the assorted pack, but I see I will be using the smaller sizes more than the larger ones so I'll pick up a separate pack of just the smaller clips.

Re: What Green Are You Drinking

Yes, there is always a lot of experimentation. What is the size of the kyusu in your photo? It is roughly 340ml and I'm finding it the perfect size for me. I typically brew from 50-160ml, but wanted the option to serve others and keep my collection small. Very small. Interesting, because my first k...
