Re: Sheng and Shu Pu Erh - Alcoholic?

is happening due to the presence of sugars in tea leaves ( more here https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24021435/ ) it self and the fermentation does something with it alright. That link only mentions Korean green tea having the lowest content of glucose, fructose & sucrose ( apparently we must assume...

You brew 30g in 200 ml pot right? I forget.
For 200ml i'm using 20gr ( 1gr/10ml ratio ). Not a low one, far from unique ( found plenty people around tea communities using this same ration despite not being the most usual choice ) or abnormal.

Re: Tea preferences for super taster/ normal taster / hypo taster

After a quick glance still can't say where i fit, although i'd point the hypo column features some contradictory concepts. Baisao also pointed the usual cultural suspect, i'd mention the kind of education at home as well. Maybe it's the saltiness that is throwing you off? https://www.npr.org/sectio...

Re: How do you stop hoarding tea?

True, shipping cost are outrageous, not to mention I get so unlucky with the custom fees each time. I just paid DHL this morning 37 euro custom fees for my order on top of shipping cost. I would have much preferred to sip some lishan with that money. But it is what it is. I hardly spend any crazy💰 ...

Re: How do you stop hoarding tea?

Already mentioned although can't be stressed enough: you'll just run out of space . Current pricing trends can help putting you off as well. I'll be breaking the 300kg barrier this month once my latest tea boxes arrive. Have been forced to rearrange my storage three times this year just to fit my la...

Re: Kunming DRY storage

Similar values inside my storage these days as well with slightly higher temp values ( "natural storage" or rather "lazy storage" ; it's just a cabinet with three sliding doors on fron, brick & mortar walls, no props of any kind, just tea piled around, separated by type even though some white cakes ...

Incidentally, if anyone has any recommendations of books about Chinese tea-making and history, I would love to hear them. Welcome to Teaforum. You might want to check & bookmark this amazing thread and maybe ask over there for specific recommendations ( given you have some specific topic in mind )....

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

my regular leaf ratio ( 18-20gr ) That's a remarkable regular leaf ratio. What size is your regular pot? My regular pots ( as i even dare to drink 2-3 different teas that can last 2-3 days ) are 200ml - 300ml ( the one i use the most, had a session with it today ) - 400ml . Also have a couple of 55...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Sounds like it would be delightful to replicate that session at a more favorable hour of the day! Indeed. Early morning... on a weekend just in case :) . Managed to make the most of that extra time ( work, reading, training, take care of some other things... ) back then, not so confident it'll be t...

Re: What would you tell your novice self about tea

On my post tried to avoid a little bit the suggested "conversation with my past self" theme so i left some personal preferences out of it... and then read this: 4) Gaiwans, just don’t. They work for other people but I’ll always be the guy with burned fingertips and splashing tea everywhere. Stick to...

Re: What Pu'er Are You Drinking

Unexpected highly successful blend: Was going for a regular session of Temania's 2017 Autumn Bee sheng which usually should be around 20gr leaf with a 1gr/10ml water ratio ( using ceramic teaware from Lins Ceramics ) ... however there was only 13gr left and wasn't in the mood to grab another one fro...

Re: What would you tell your novice self about tea

Been fortunate enough with my water source even before i got into tea but certainly it's the first unavoidable step: test & compare your water. DailyTx already mentioned another rock solid usual advice which is/will be mentioned often for a reason ( sample-sample-sample ) . And then... just to spice...

Check this user's last message date. Looks like he hasn't been active for the last year; highly probably those teas are long gone.

Re: (Group buy) Qinyang 2021 Muyang heizhuan

I've used a hacksaw for a shiliang and a regular handsaw for a bailiang . A dozuki might be a decent fit for a heizhuan like this, but the mentioned tea scissors work really great and save a ton of time and enegy. Missed those posts so thanks for those links. Not sure if you have a tendency...
